Celebrate Freedom History
In 2005, Marshall Street Church began an outreach to our surrounding communities on July 3rd of every year to celebrate God and Country. Our first celebrate freedom was a simple parking lot event at our church where we invited people on our street to come and celebrate with us. Our stage was a flatbed trailer and our singers were those in our church! Our fireworks were shot by "professionals in the church" at the BRHS parking lot. We had a great time of food and fellowship on those hot, sticky July evenings. None of us could possibly imagine the growth that would follow!
Fast forward to today, the Alexander City Celebrate Freedom event has turned into Alex City's largest event! The event over the years took many forms and had to be moved to the BRHS band practice field to host the 1000's in attendance. The fireworks were also moved from the parking lot to the upper baseball practice fields and they are truly shot by "professionals". We've also moved on from a flatbed trailer to hiring a professional lighting and sound crew that handles all of our staging and sound! And the singing.... well let's talk about that! We've had a host of wonderful groups like Michael English, The Nelons, Josh Wilson, Seventh Time Down, Finding Favour, Sidewalk Prophets, Sanctus Real, I Am They, Jason Crabb, Mickey Bell, and Colton Dixon!
